About Welz Words
As I heard the ultrasound technician say, “There are two,” a lot of words ran through my mind. (No, not that one! Well…maybe that one.) Words like arms, legs, eyes, and ears. I must have said as much because she corrected me with a quick shake of the head, saying, “Babies. Two babies.”
It was one of the few times that words failed me. Little did I know 23 years ago that having twins would force me to be creative, highly organized, and able to constantly adapt to new situations.
Fast forward a few years and I added a new title. This time it was journalist. Storyteller. Reporter. Whatever you want to call it, it stuck with me for the next 13 years. During that time I learned how much words matter. The right words. And the wrong ones, too.
Of course, words have a job to do in our world of content and copywriting. As a writer who is also an award-winning journalist and master storyteller, I can give you exactly what your readers want.
All it takes is the right words. Ones that educate or entertain with a bit of persuasion tucked in. Ones that make your readers laugh or cry or dream or hope. That way, they’ll remember you long after the link has expired.
Storytelling draws the reader in and gives you credibility. Add a few facts to the mix and you’ve engaged them not only their heart, but also their mind. Studies show people respond to, and act on, information contained in stories far more often than a set of data points.
A single story has power. I’m the writer to hand you that power, building your copy, from feature testimonials, research-based articles, blog posts, case studies, web copy, emails and more.
So, what else should you know about me?
I’ve written a lot of copy. Somewhere around 3,000 feature/news stories alone. And I’ve won awards for some of it. (Read about my most recent first place award from the Illinois Press Association here.) I’ve also trained with the copywriting experts at American Writers and Artists, Inc. (AWAI).
Combine those two elements and it gives me—and you!–an edge. That elusive, intangible something that gives you sharp, compelling copy. It connects you with your customers, whether you choose to be playful or powerful or somewhere in-between.
